PrinterOn Payload Information - c06317022
Depending on the submission method used, the amount of overhead will vary between the different submission methods.
For example, an AirPrint job submitted from a mobile device will use IPP as the overhead for submission, while the PrinterOn Mobile App will use the PrinterOn APIs. While these vary somewhat, the overall affect should be minimal.
Currently, if we exclude the document itself, we estimate overhead as:
- Less than 20 KB per jobs for submission and downloading of jobs at the remote location.
- This is on the higher end of expected results, smaller jobs will require less overhead as they will not require as much time and checks for status when submitting a job.
- In some cases, tests have result in overhead in the range of 6KB overall.
About 40% of the overhead is during job submission and 60% during job downloads at remote locations.
If jobs are not being routed to remote locations to be downloaded by PDS, the value is even lower.
Also, the overhead to download a job is more static, and stays roughly the same regardless of the size of the job itself so the percentages may change for large complex jobs that take longer during submission.
To summarize
- Job Submission Overhead is between 3KB and 8KB depending on the job size
- Job Download overhead is between 5KB and 10KB
