How to Change the Default Host Application to Allow the Core Console to Open on a VMware Windows 2012 The issue appears due to an association misconfiguration.
To solve it, open Control Panel and navigate to:
- All Control Panel Items
- Default Programs
- Associate a file type or protocol with a program
- The Path box will show: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Associations
- Navigate to the bottom of the list of file type & protocols list
- In the protocols section look for "HTTP"
- Highlight HTTP
- The Default Host Application column on the HTTP row shows "Default Host Application"
- Click on the "Change Program" button at the top-right of the Windows Form containing the list.
- You will be presented with a popup window allowing you to select Internet Explorer
- Select it
- Make sure that the HTTPS item is set to Internet Explorer as well (this should be done automatically).
- Close Control Panel and launch the AppAssure Console. It should launch as expected now.
