Troubleshooting PrintConnect failures - understanding the LED lights on device - c06317021
Power supply failures are common in the Linux PrintConnect devices, the behavior of the LED lights on the PrintConnect provide hints as to faults with the unit or power supply:
Fault Symptom 1 : Power light flashing on and off slowly
- If the PrintConnect is running and the power light flashing on and off slowly, try replacing the power supply
- Try replacing the entire unit if the power supply replacement did not resolve the issue (these units are typically replaced if 2 years or older)
Fault Symptom 2 : - Clicking noise
- If the PrintConnect makes a continuous clicking noise, then power supply has failed, try replacing the power supply.
- Try replacing the entire unit if the power supply replacement did not resolve the issue (these units are typically replaced if 2 years or older)
Fault Symptom 3 : Lights on back fail to illuminate
- If the small LED lights on the back of the PrintConnect fail to illuminate, try replacing the power supply
- Try replacing the entire unit if the power supply replacement did not resolve the issue (these units are typically replaced if 2 years or older)
Fault Symptom 4 : 2 lights on right side go dark
- The bottom right hand light on front of device is the hard disk activity light. This light should flicker on and off constantly for the first minute that the PrintConnect is powered on. Thereafter it may be dark for many minutes at a stretch. If this light flickers briefly once when the PrintConnect is first powered up, and then remains dark, the device will need to be returned to PrinterOn for reprogramming (if under warranty)
- Try replacing the power supply of the unit
- If the device is out of warranty then a replacement of the entire unit is required
NOTE:
The front top right LED light is the power indicator.
The power LED light should be solid at all times when powered on.
This applies to the Linux PrintConnect device.
