Understanding the PrinterOn and Equitrac licensing integration - c06420885

Summary : If a Equitrac referral code is used, then the PrinterOn directory enables the option within the licenses file to support Equitrac managing the release of the printjob. If a non Equitrac referral code is used then the option in the licenses file changes to enable PrinterOn control of the licensing and releasing of the print job.

Equitrac vs 'Other' referral codes

The values appearing for CRS_ID and PON_ML are database values, therefore these are settings that you would see in the database for these columns for the printer. Using the author call below, you can view the information for individual printers without reviewing details directly within the database.

When Equitrac Referral code is used:

The licenses file downloaded from the PrinterOn.com web administration panel is enabled with the option for Equitrac therefore providing licensing control to the Equitrac system. The process flow is as follows: User send a print request through the PrinterOn solution, the request gets to the Equitrac print management system. The user goes to the release station and authenticates to display all the print jobs. If the administrator of the Print Management solution did not install the Equitrac mobile print licenses, then the user will not show any print jobs available for release, other than jobs sent through some other submission methods.

When Any other referral code is used other than Equitrac:

The licenses file downloaded from the PrinterOn.com web administration panel is disabled with the option for Equitrac, therefore keeping licensing control within the PrinterOn solution. The process flow is as follows: User sends a print request through the PrinterOn solution, the requests gets to the Equitrac print management system. The user goes to the release station and authenticates to display the print jobs, the print jobs appear in the list, the user can then release the print request.

How to validate using an author call to confirm which licenses is enabled within the PrinterOn solution and the expected output within Equitrac?

Using the author call, we can confirm without reviewing the contents of the database which licensing method is enabled and is detected using this sample:

Replace : 172.17.39.57 with the actual IP address or DNS name of the machine hosting the PrinterOn Enterprise solution. Replace ‘eqconfigured’ with the PrinterOn printer number or name.
