Component Unavailable - Central Print Services (CPS) - c06617236

The PrinterOn Configuration Manager shows error 'Component Unavailable' while trying to access various menu items.

Things to Check:

  1. Validate that the Central Print Service (CPS) is running, you can do this in a couple ways:
    • Navigate to the Microsoft Windows service panel and confirm that the CPS service is running on the machine, if the service is not running start the service then wait about 3 minutes then check the printers tab again.
    • Navigate in the PrinterOn Configuration Manager, select the 'Services' tab to see if the service is running, if the service is not running start the service then wait about 3 minutes then check the printers tab again.
  2. If using a remote DB configuration, validate that the SQL server is accessible from the machine where the CPS is installed and running
  3. Validate the SQL service is running, this can be accomplished in a couple ways:
    • Navigate to the Microsoft Windows service panel and confirm that the Microsoft SQL service is running on the machine, if the service is not running start the service then restart the CPS service and wait about 5 minutes then check the printers tab again.
    • Navigate in the PrinterOn Configuration Manager, select the 'Services' tab to see if the Microsoft SQL service is running, if the service is not running start the service then restart the CPS service and wait about 5 minutes then check the printers tab again.
  4. Verify your cps_config.xml file
    • Navigate to C:\Program Files (x 86)\ PrinterOn Corporation\Apache Tomcat\Conf and review the cps_config.xml file
    • If the file is blank, review the backup copies of cps_config.xml that will be in this same folder with names similar to cps_config_19Oct17_0845_42.xml
    • Locate the most recent backup copy which contains content and save it to the desktop
    • Rename this file to cps_config.xml
    • Stop the Central Print Services Windows service
    • Copy the desktop copy to the Apache Tomcat Conf folder referenced above, and say yes to replace
    • Start the Central Print Services Windows service
