How to change the Windows Service Account running PrinterOn services - c06729926
There is sometimes a need to change the service account which is being used by the PrinterOn software to run some Windows services. This could be due to changes inside the customer environment, or due to customer security policies that mean service account passwords can expire.
The services that will require changing are:
- Bonjour Service
- Central Print Services
- PON Configuration Manager
- Print Delivery Gateway
- Print Delivery Station
- PrintAnywhere E-Mail Plugin
- PrintAnywhere Processing Server
- PrintAnywhere Server Agent
- PrintAnywhere Status Server
- SQL Agent
- Storage Server
The services which should not be changed:
- Microsoft SQL Server should remain logged in as NT Service\MSSQL$CPSDB (default password for this user is cps!user )
- SQL Server Agent (CPSDB) should remain in a Disabled state (see What is the difference between SQL Agent service and SQL Server Agent (CPSDB) service?
- SQL Server Browser should remain running as the Local Service account
- SQL Server VSS Writer should remain running as the Local System account
An easy way to confirm is to sort your Windows Services list by the Log On As column. All services running by the original Service Account used during installation should be updated:
