How to install .NET 3.5 Framework prior to PrinterOn software Installation? - c06243094

.NET framework is a feature that is part of the Microsoft Windows operating system and is required by the PrinterOn Enterprise solution.

To install .NET 3.5 framework complete the steps below:

  1. Boot up the VM or machine to be used to install the PrinterOn Enterprise solution.
  2. Find your .ISO image of the OS (the IT team would have this information, or download directly from the Microsoft website).
  3. Double click on that .ISO image file.
  4. Click on "Sources".
  5. Navigate to folder named "sxs".
  6. Copy this "sxs' folder to your VM Desktop.
  7. Go to Server Manager on the Windows system and select Add Roles and Features.
  8. The Add Roles and Features Wizard window should appear.
    Review this information first.
  9. After reviewing the information, click Next.
  10. From the Select installation type screen, select Role-based or feature-based installation and click [Next].
  11. From the Select Server Selection screen verify the correct server is selected.
  12. Click [Next] on the Select Server Roles screen.
  13. In the Select Features screen, click the triangle icon next to .NET Framework 3.5 Features to expand it.
    Checkmark the following options below.
    If the Add Roles and Features Window appears, click Add Features.
    NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0)
  14. After checking the above selections, click [Next].
  15. Click [Next] until you reach the Confirm installation selections screen.
  16. On the Confirm installation selections page, verify .NET 3.5 features are on the list. You have two options:
    • If the source files for Windows Server 2012 are on the local computer, or if you are unsure, click Install.
    • If source files for Windows Server 2012 installation are not on the local computer, click Specify an alternate source path near the bottom of the screen and installation files and then click Install - Navigate to the directory you copied in step #6 and complete the installation.
  17. If the .NET 3.5 features were installed successfully, you should see a message confirming the installation was successful.

NOTE:

Applies to PrinterOn Enterprise 3.x and later.

With PrinterOn Enteprise 4.x .NET 4.x is also required.
